Coster Water Vending Machine Purification Process

On this page, we explain the Coster Water Filtration process used in our vending machines to provide clear, fresh drinking water. These machines may include Particle Prefiltration, Carbon Prefiltration, Reverse Osmosis, Carbon Filtration, Ultraviolet Sterilization, Alkaline Filtration, and Ozone Sterilization. Please contact us for the specific setup you would like for your Coster Water vending machine, as not all machines contain every option and the sequence may vary by unit. Coster Water offers a wide variety of products to meet your water purification needs.
PARTICLE PREFILTRATION
A ten-inch, one-micron sediment cartridge filter made of spun polypropylene removes suspended particles greater than one micron in size, such as silt, fine sand, and grit. The Coster Water Sediment Replacement Filter is part number 625-002-392 – Filter Cartridge, 10” Sediment 1 Micron.
CARBON PREFILTRATION
This carbon cartridge reduces or removes chlorine, odors, tastes, and discoloration. It should be replaced monthly. The replacement filter for Coster Water vending machines is part number 625-005-822 – Filter Cartridge, 20” Carbon.
REVERSE OSMOSIS
A key part of Coster Water Filtration is reverse osmosis, which removes up to 98% of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). Water is forced through a semipermeable membrane under pressure, separating out minerals, salts, and other contaminants. The RO membrane should be replaced every 2 to 3 years, or sooner if the TDS reading drops below 75%. The replacement membrane is part number 62501113 – Filmtec XLE 4040.
Learn About Reverse Osmosis
Reverse osmosis removes dissolved contaminants including minerals, salts, metals, and organic matter. Only water molecules pass through the membrane, while the rest are discarded as wastewater.

CARBON FILTRATION
Another important step in Coster Water Filtration is carbon filtration, which further removes chlorine, odors, and taste issues. This filter should be replaced monthly. The part number is 625-001-574 – 10” Carbon Filter Cartridge.
ULTRAVIOLET STERILIZATION
This final purification step disinfects water by killing bacteria, viruses, and protozoa. The UV lamp, part number 62500854 – UV S463RL R-Can, should be replaced every six months.
ALKALINE FILTRATION (Optional Installation)
To raise alkalinity and improve taste, supply water can pass through a mixed media bed that gradually dissolves and increases pH. The alkaline filter kit is part number 62503025 – Alkaline Water Filter (1 Cubic Ft).
For re-bedding, use the pH filter media replacement kit (part number 62503018), which includes everything needed.
OZONE STERILIZATION (Optional Installation)
Ozone sterilization uses O3 to purify water by eliminating bacteria, viruses, and other contaminants. The Coster Water Ozone Lamp Kit is part number 62501376.
